This session comes to shed light on the right of the Palestinian people to water, under the existence of the Israeli occupation, which systematically violates Palestinians rights; the occupation continues to violate the rights of Palestinians in general and farmers in particular and prevents them from enjoying their water resources.
This session will clarify first; the effect of the occupation control and restriction of water resources. Second; which articles are violated from the Universal Declaration of the Rights of Peasants and Other People Working in Rural Areas 2018? Third; this will be followed by a Case Study on water status in the region of Marj Sanur. Forth; examining new water techniques to be applied to face the challenge of the lack of water, so peasants could take his/her first steps in achieving food sovereignty and producing their local crops. Finally, La Via Campesina movement intervention to clarify their vision on protecting peasants' right to water.
The meeting will be moderated by Dr. Moayyad Bsharat- Director of Programs and Projects in the Union of Agricultural Work Committees.
