Trapped in Illicit Finance and Public Health: Positive / negative measures for a People’s Recovery from Covid-19Date: Vendredi, janvier 29, 2021 - 12:30 UTCDurée: 120 minRésumé:
Data states that there will be some 150 million people in extreme poverty by end 2021, and 135 million additional will have hunger impact due to Covid19.The main aim of the event is to discuss how illicit financial flows witnessed in the countries make it harder for the governments of developing countries to fund healthcare/ social protection / public service costs. We will compare spending to companies (direct grants, tax cuts, loans) with social protection spending (direct, job retention, policy measures) and propose a shift to people’s recovery in order to create a climate and people centric recovery.
